About the Artist
Sandra Faulstich Harris

Born and raised in rural Iowa, Sandra's passion for drawing and painting people was kindled early. Her artist aunt introduced her to oil painting at age 11, and by 14 had painted her first commissioned portrait. As a young woman she followed her heart West, captivated by the people, cultures and vast landscapes of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.

Without formal training, Sandra pursued artistic growth through perseverance and dedicated study with master artists Howard Terpning, Bettina Steinke, Rose Frantzen, Daniel Gerhartz, David Leffel, Sherrie McGraw, Bob Wygant, Carolyn Anderson and others.

In recent years, Sandra's love of nature has influenced her artistic journey, leading her to immerse herself in landscape painting on location. She was awarded artist residencies with Ucross Foundation, Jentel Arts, The Brinton Museum and Tongue River Artist Residency, enabling her to explore and deepen her passion for plein air landscape painting.

Sandra's work is represented in private and public collections throughout the United States, including the National Park Service, United States Air Force Academy, Brinton Museum, Big Horn County Historical Museum and Western Heritage Center of Billings, Montana. She makes her home with husband Shane in the heart of Apsaalooke (Crow) country, Big Horn County, Montana. There she finds inspiration and authenticity for her sensitive portrayals of humanity and the surrounding landscape.
